Which users can buy stocks commission free?
Zero commission stock investing is available to all eToro users, excluding the US.
To which stocks does zero commission apply?
When you invest in the underlying asset — in other words, when you open a non-leveraged, BUY (long) stock position, you will pay zero commission. Zero commission does not apply to CFD stock positions:
On eligible positions, the “Open Trade” window will show the message: “You are buying the underlying asset commission free.”

Why my account is in USD and not AUD?
While the eToro platform currently operates in USD only, you can choose to display your portfolio value in AUD using the General Settings menu.

Is eToro the custodian of the shares?
Unlike investing in CFDs, when you invest in an underlying asset on eToro, the stock, including any fractional shares, is purchased under your name or on your behalf, making you the owner of your investment.

Yes, eToro does offer franking credits.
To help prevent shareholders from being taxed twice on the dividends they receive, some Australian companies offer franking credits. These credits, also known as imputation credits, are declared by the shareholder at tax time, letting the Australian Tax Office know that tax has already been paid and helping to avoid double taxation.
It is important to remember that not all dividends will be fully franked (having had the total amount of tax paid by the company). Some dividends may not be franked at all, while others will only be partially franked, with a portion of the tax paid.
