Bancor (BNT) is an altcoin based on a blockchain protocol that allows users to convert different virtual currency tokens instead of exchanging them on a cryptocurrency exchange such as Coinbase. The Bancor network allows users to easily trade tokens and earn interest on various different tokens by staking them within the company’s decentralized exchange. Founded in 2016 by a group of developers including Galia Benartzi, Guy Benartzi, Eyal Hertzog, and Yudi Levi, the firm is based in Zyg, Switzerland, but BNT coins are now available around the world. Bancor launched its Initial Coin Offering in 2017, raising a total of approximately $153 million. The organisation is fully owned and operated by its community as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), and all stakeholders are involved in a transparent, democratic voting system, allowing them to have a hand in shaping the future of BNT.
