Quant (QNT) is an altcoin built on Ethereum and is used to power the Quant Network’s suite of software solutions, marketed under the brand name Overledger, which aim to connect public blockchains and private networks. Part of the network’s purpose is to allow for the creation of model driven applications (mDapps) that allow for decentralised applications that operate on multiple blockchains at once. The Quant Network was founded by Gilbert Verdian in 2015. Verdian has previously worked at HM Treasury in the UK Government and as Chief Information Security Officer for the Department of Health in Australia. His aim is to use DLTs, including blockchains, to solve security-related issues in the digital exchange of assets and information. The Quant token (QNT) is used to pay for services and transaction fees within the Network, and as of July 2021, can also be accessed via Coinbase, providing an easy way for retail investors to access the cryptoasset.
